TROY UNIVERSITY JOINS RANKS OF ELITE AMONG PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMS
Troy University’s Master of Public Administration degree program has joined the ranks of the premier schools in the nation. The National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration has granted accreditation to the program, reflecting that TROY has met the organization’s standards.
“This accreditation now makes TROY one of two universities in the Hampton Roads area offering a public administration program with professional accreditation,” said Dr. David Shetterly, associate professor of Public Administration for TROY’s Atlantic Region. “This clearly places Troy University in the first tier of premier schools in the United States in the study of public policy and public management.”
NASPAA accreditation symbolizes excellence in the education and training of those individuals who seek careers in the public sector. It promotes academic study and career opportunities in public affairs, public policy, public administration, and public management.
Citing both faculty and institutional support, the NASPAA accreditation report stated, in part: “Clearly the MPA program [at Troy] takes very seriously its mission of developing professional competency and leadership in individuals working in the public and nonprofit sectors. It utilizes a wide network of physical campuses plus eCampus to bring the instruction to the students and offers courses at times (nights and weekends) that maximize the convenience for those in the workforce.”
