Academic advising stimulates students to form collaborative relationships with advisers and to achieve educational and individual goals through utilization of university, community and other resources. The advisement involves an adviser helping a student: To understand the nature and purpose of graduate education.

Students should meet with their academic adviser to confirm their degree plan, to obtain academic assistance as needed as they progress in their program, and near the completion of their degree to prepare for their comprehensive exam or capstone course.
