Bernard Palmer, 2005 Troy University Graduate, will be conducting a free mini-workshop on securing federal employment. This seminar will cover the federal employment system and the Ten Steps to a Federal Job. 

Ten Step program consists of:

1. Networking: What you know is important – who you know is instrumental. Learn how to NETWORK yourself successfully!
2. Federal Job Process: Before you can apply, you must understand the dynamics of government.
3. Job Vacancy Announcements: Learn how to identify, interpret and assess JVA’s effectively
4. Core Competencies: Know your “value-added” benefits that you can offer an employer.
5. Keywords: Find out how to locate and identify in JVA’s.
6. Draft Your Federal Resume: this component will assist you in getting your thoughts and ideas on paper where it counts.
7. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Cover Letter: Write results-oriented KSA’s and Cover Letters – this course shows you how.
8. Federal Jobs application process: Understand the rules by which the government plays and become more competitive.
9. Track & Follow-Up: Identify vehicles which allow you to obtain status of your application. 
10. Interviewing: “You never get a 2nd chance to make a good 1st impression” – learn ideas and participate in “mock” interviews which will help you to stand-out from others.
