TROY UNIVERSITY IS COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS’ GATEWAY TO A BACHELOR’S DEGREE!
HOW IT WORKS
Through system-wide agreements between the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and 4-year colleges and universities, Troy University offers guaranteed admission to qualified* graduates from one of Virginia’s community colleges. This means that you can get up to 60 transferable credits towards your bachelor’s degree and satisfy the general education component of the first two years of Troy’s bachelor’s programs.
This applies to the completion of one of the following transfer-oriented associate’s degrees offered through the Virginia Community College System:
- Associate of Arts
- Associate of Science
- Associate of Arts and Sciences
- General Studies associate’s degrees that have been approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) as transfer degrees
STEPS TO TAKE
- For maximum credit and to avoid delaying degree completion, plan early. Your school counselor will work with you and help you to coordinate with a Troy advisor.
- Transferable credits with a grade of C or better will be accepted
*Students must meet the eligibility requirements set forth by the VCCS. More information is available at http://www.myfuture.vccs.edu/transfer and at http://ar.troy.edu/prospective/transfer.html.

As a student of a community college, you may not have had many college options. Now as you consider becoming a transfer college student, your options to transfer to Troy University increase dramatically.
Whether it was lack of financial resources, proximity to home, or uncertainty about future plans, transfer college students have their own reasons why they started their college career at a community college or business school. These reasons should never hinder the chance for any student to accomplish their goals. Troy University strives to make it convenient for you to continue on to earn your bachelor's degree.

Transfer Applicants
Transfer students are applicants who have attempted at least 24 credit hours of coursework, excluding developmental courses, at other colleges or universities.
Transfer applicants must have official transcripts from each college or university they have previously attended sent directly to the admissions office of the Troy University campus where they plan to attend. Transfer students must also submit transcripts from colleges where registration was completed, even though credit might not have been earned. Transfer students must have attempted a minimum of 24 hours of non-developmental coursework at another college or university to be admitted as a transfer student. A student may not be enrolled at another college or university and Troy University at the same time without prior approval of the Dean of Enrollment Management or the appropriate campus designee.
